The borough of Media is the county seat of Delaware County. Its origins date back to the William Penn era. The borough was formed in 1850 from four farms that were purchased by the county. Originally a rural area, in the second half of the 19th Century, Media was a summer resort for well-to-do Philadelphians. Now it is primarily suburban, and is the last town in America with a trolley running down the main street.
